October 10, 2012. My new Nikon D3100 arrived a few days ago but I haven't used it yet. There's a bit of a learning curve ahead of me. In the meantime, I've had various thoughts about the same sex marriage issue and decided to put a short video together for posting on Youtube. If you're reading this in a year or two from now, it may be that the issue in Australia has been resolved. I hope so. But for now, it's still embroiled in controversy, with traditionalists vehemently opposed to marriage equality. Silly buggers.

October 1, 2012. Yesterday, I visited Old Bar, just 17 kilometers east of Taree, for the Old Bar Festival and the VW Kombi Fest which is an annual attempt at assembling the most Kombis in the one place at the one time. It was a great show, with lots of cool Kombis dressed in all their finery. Those old flower-power rigs just keep on keeping on, year after year.

I've been to the Kombi Fest about 3 times in the past 5 or so years and I must say I see different Kombis each time, as well as different owners. I suspect that many people buy an old Kombi, do it up (if it's not already), have fun for a year or two, and then sell it to a new enthusiast. So I imagine they change hands quite often. I had my old bus back in the late '80s and early '90s for 8 years.
